So maybe as a 60-ish Woman I do have a few very, very important things to share.
I hope you grabbed that little “drop,” as I won’t be repeating it often. As I explained last month, age is so pedestrian to me — it limits instead of builds and destroys instead of illuminates a woman in western culture.
So I only allude to it because one of the things I have acquired more recently with age is a lack of fear around its perceptions. To the extent that I no longer need to hide behind a number — greater or lesser than my years on this planet. Acceptance or denial does not change things for me… only for others.
The absence of fear is incredibly orgasmic, liberating, and a bit badass.
In fact, I feel like a little dare-angel, mischievously defying every notion, stigma, and reproach on offer to me — especially
“Put it away, Sinitta!”
“Put some clothes on!”
— and whatever else is said about what I am or am not wearing, that I am purposefully tone-deaf to.
The truth is, the majority of my off-stage attire is pretty androgynous, gamine, and modest. I think I have a split personality — one for stage and one for family and friends.
I even have a closet called “Wifey”, where I house my most simple, feminine, elegant clothes — for how I see myself when I’m with my man: secure, loved, and focused on him. How I want him to see me when I’m dressed up to go out with him and other couples.
It could be that he would love something racier or sexier or whatever — but this era is dressing for me, even when I’m dressing for him.
I have:
A closet for time with my favourite female friends
A country closet — casuals, boots, cashmere
Black tie closets
Business meeting closets
Isn’t it funny how it is actually important to dress for business so people know you mean business and you are not playing? Maybe more so when you are me — with so many personas — and can easily be mistaken for being permanently giggling, eternally silly, or simply seductive.
I’m not complaining about any of my personas — they are all sides of the real me. All of me is real. Even the on-stage, larger-than-life version. It is me in there, under all of that… or not wearing anything, after all!
THIS MONTH’S MESSAGE
In a very hippie-ish, peace-sign kind of way, it’s this:
Your spiritual life is the foundation of every single area of your wellness — especially your mental and emotional health.
So it is the only thing you have to take super seriously: your spirituality. Everything else is a game to enjoy.
Even work. Even hard work. Enjoy it. Enjoy using your brain, your body, your hands, your heart. Put everything into it in a fun and excited way.
Play with ideas to make everything enjoyable and fresh so you don’t get bored — even if it’s just stacking shelves.
Can you:
Make words out of the product names?
Stack alphabetically?
Think of a new recipe using the product?
Think of someone who could benefit from it?
Find another creative use for it?
Your brain is more infinite than the biggest, best computer ever made — and it’s housed in your body, where you can attach feelings and thoughts together.
Do not lose it.
Enjoy it.
Get a buzz out of learning, thinking, remembering, and applying.
Don’t let anyone or anything get you down — but still have compassion for those who need your empathy and sympathy.
Be stable. Be bold. Be comfortable in your masculine or feminine — but preferably balanced between the two.
When your spirit is stable and content, your body and mind can operate freely and effortlessly. You can actually enjoy yourself — as in like and accept who you are on every level.
See what I mean about age?
It may have taken nearly 60 years to understand and communicate these things — but they are beneficial at any age.
It’s not cute to be insecure and judgmental toward yourself. That fake humility story is a lie. We should be certain, confident, and full of power. When it comes to ourselves, we are the experts — with only God knowing us better than we know ourselves.
The wellness of your spirit is the foundation of your entire well-being.
So now again is the time to put the Spirit into Mind, Body, Spirit.
